OK, I'll try some of my 60 wt tuna monofilament, PROVIDING that you can
assure me I won't be strangled while my cap twirls round and round above my(
purple) face! Maybe a stapler would work better?

I have solved the problem of the loss of hats.

Of course I never lost my greasy old AOPA cap, but no soon as I got some
made with my tail number on it, out the window they go. Either worn or
floating
around loose in the baggage compartment.
Now I have a four foot length of fishing line attached to the back of the
caps and a fishing line clasp on the other and it is attached to the eyelets
in
the baggage compartment. (no Dennis, not a fish hook).
Headphones keep them firmly on but if they do get blown off they don't fly
away.
Now I do have to remember to take the hat off when leaving the plane or I
will get my head jerked around when I try to jump off the wing.

I'd like to personally thank Paul Anton for selling his Coupe and buying a Tripacer, so I could finally wrangel the Washington State license plate, ERCOUPE, away from him. Mary and I are going to put it on our little Miata (about the same size cockpit, by the way). Do any of the rest of you have that plate issued to you in any other states out there?

RI is a remarkably primitive and backward state, either despite its age
or because of it - whatever. "Vanity" plates here are limited to six
(6) characters even though a casual observer can see that there is
plainly room for seven. It was only last year or so that they allowed
"package" stores (that means beer, wine & likker) to be open on Sunday,
and then only from noon to 6. Can't get beer anywhere but in the
"package" store. Very, very strange place. I have extra perspective
as I was raised in Wisconsin, so the peculiarities really stand out to
me. Including my aircraft - according to the FAA site, I have the only
Ercoupe registered in the state. So, if I wanted a "vanity" plate,
would I go for ECOUPE? Doesn't look good to me.

Well as far as I can tell, Georgia also only allows six letters on a
vanity plate. Must be the stamping machine at the prison is still in
good shape. However, regular plates are up to eight letter or spaces now.

Maybe try ERCO or 415C or whichever model you have?

Hmmm, I can't decide whether to put the new custom 'Ercoupe' license plate
on my Miata or my motorcycle.
(or my old trusty Toyota MR2 with 218K & counting)

Marty & all,
Why is it that airplanes, motorcycles, and sports cars seem to 'go
together'?

Hi Dan,
You really got that plate for CA? Congrats. I gave up my Harley years ago for a liveaboard sailboat, and gave that up for a wife and house 14 years later. You can't keep all your toys. I did manage to hold on to my 72 VW poptop I've had for 30 years now though. I might need it to live in in case I get thrown out for spending too much on the Airplane! See ya, Marty
