Minutes of ERPS General Meeting #303 04 April 2005 The President called the meeting to order at 8:38 PM. Members present were Nate Dietrich, Rick Eversole, Sean Lynch, Pierce Nichols, Julie Porter, Dan Solvin, Michael Wallis, Dave Weinshenker, and Chris Winter.
Reports and discussion on agenda items were as follows: DOCUMENTATION ------------- Chris Winter Chris reported one nibble RE: his 20 e-mails about the arm, but no real interest. Chris will not have a data CD-ROM ready in time for Space Access '05. It obviously is better to postpone completion than to rush a shoddy product out the door. INFOTECH -------- Sean Lynch The ERPS Web site is becoming the target of multiple extraneous links. Sean reported that an upgrade to Version 3 of Moin-Moin should eliminate this problem. LIAISONS -------- Michael Wallis Michael reported observing a turbine-powered model FA-18 on the previous weekend, and suggested this might be a good source of propulsion info for Gizmocopter. PUBLIC AFFAIRS -------------- Michael Wallis Nothing to report TREASURER --------- Rick Eversole We are short of money. We continue to operate without a budget for the remainder of fiscal year 2004. CHIEF SCIENTIST --------------- Kevin Bollinger Nothing to report FLIGHT CONTROLS --------------- Dave Masten See Gizmocopter PROPELLANTS/SPARGER/FF ---------------------- Pierce Nichols Dave W reported that construction is moving ahead on a production version of the HTP refrigerator. REGULATORY AFFAIRS ------- Dave Weinshenker Nothing to report SAFETY ------ Dave Masten Safety is AOK. TESTING ------- Dave Masten Nothing to report **** PROJECTS Composites ---------- Kevin Bollinger Nothing to report Gizmocopter ----------- Sean Lynch Some changes are in the works for Gizmocopter. One is more suitable motors. Dave W proposed using an available bench supply with adjustable output to run parametric thrust/voltage tests on some motors, measuring the thrust with a bathroom scale. KISS ---- Dan Solvin Nothing to report POGO ---- Dave Masten Nothing to report SMARTFLIGHT ----------- Dave Weinshenker Dave hopes to fly payload for Pierce (for a school project) at the next Fresno launch series over the weekend of 16-17 April. The next option is Dairy-Aire a month later. Spike ----- Sean Lynch Nothing to report NEW BUSINESS ============ The cleaning service has started up in Unit 23. Meeting #301 adjourned at 8:49 PM. The next meeting will take place at 8 PM on 3 May at our facility in Santa Clara. Watch the list for driving directions.
