Does Etoile have any 3D framework plan?
Not yet. But for the fun, I would be tempted to experiment with an
hybrid Objective-C framework handling both 2D and 3D curves,
surfaces, vectors etc. with the same API, architecture and 3D backend.
Not sure it's really doable or worth the pain (or interesting since
we have stuff like Glitz for rendering 2D stuff with 3D backend).
3DKit project is dead right?
It's dead but may be still in a usable shape.
I'm planning to design a 3D engine/framework that adopt either
Bullet [1]
or ODE [2] I personally prefer Bullet since Blender uses it (Thus,
I have heard
that some devs also want to support ode too) I am working on a
framework,
that has no name yet, that defines classes roughly based on COLLADA
[3]'s elements.
ok
But I am very new to 3D engine design and the framework is very
incomplete.
There are bits in COLLADA that I don't understand from its spec,
eg. physics and
animations. I hope I'll understand more by taking a look at Bullet
because the
library also support COLLADA.
I wonder if I anyone is interested and wants to help or even guide
me what to do.
1. http://www.continuousphysics.com/Bullet/
2. http://www.ode.org/
3. http://www.collada.org/
This looks interesting and I would love to help, but I miss both the
necessary time and knowledge.
PS. And yes, I want a GNUstep 3D Modeller that allow one to paint
texture through
Maliwan operators!
What's the state of Maliwan right now? Is the last redesign finished
(the one discussed one year ago on your blog iirc)?
Cheers,
Quentin.
