 It is great.
If you look at the Etoile svn under
 etoile/trunk/Etoile/Languages/Io
IoLanguageEngine.* is the unmaintained bundle for StepTalk
and GNUmakefile.steptalk is the makefile for it.
If you use 'make steptalk=yes', it will be included for building process.
Installation may be a little tricky especially gnustep-make changes
a lot recently.
It build a static linked Io vm.
Quentin has a branch under etoile/branches/Io_unstable/
It should be in sync with latest Io developement.
The one in the trunk is a little bit old considering Io is a moving target.

Once you run 'make steptalk=yes', you will get an ioobjc tool and a
bundle for StepTalk.
Both of them are static linked with io vm
and can access objc runtime, even subclass objc class, etc.
We had some discussion about make an io library
so that ioobjc and StepTalk bundle can dynamically link to it.
It will reduce the total size.
I have to dig out the discussion from maillist, though.
