This is a very welcome help… :-) You should probably get in touch with GNUstep chief maintainer since StepTalk is part of GNUstep repository. You probably need to sign a FSF copyright assignment to work on it.
I was thinking about maintaining it as a separate project. StepTalk is released under the LGPL so this would be a valid option. *It would still be compatible with a plain GNUstep install*, but that way I could tailor it more to the needs of Etoile. I suppose working on it as a part of the GNUstep project is also an option which should be considered. I think this topic could use a little more discussion.
