I wasn't in the discussion, but it seems to me that we don't want a file manager. Managing documents using a traditional hierarchical system is particularly restrictive, as we want to be able to have documents appear in multiple "folders" based on tags or other search criteria. If we had a traditional file manager, it would likely have to be a flat object space. Since we don't want users sifting through a flat folder of thousands of files, something like the Sieve (incorporating tagging, grouping and filtering) that was proposed seems a more scalable solution. If I'm missing something, or if there was an unavoidable reason to have a file manager that was brought up, let me know.
