It depends on who owns or hosts the network.  They can do whatever they
like.  If it is on 10.x then it will need to be natted to get out to the
internet.  The freemesh system could have a dns server which could store
reverse dns rsa keys to allow for opportunistic encryption, however only
linux/freeswan systems will be able to take advantage of it.
