mozilla should be able to play .mid files

try this for instance
http://www.classicalarchives.com/m/8/gdur.mid

has anyone looked at Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about.php

I've played with it a bit, and can sense some of the power
inherent, but, I'm just beginning to climb the learning curve
there and wouldn't mind doing some of the study group thing
so that my motivation doesn't flag too much.

Well, the thing is, I don't have any hardware MIDI equipment (I will likely get some if I start having fun with the virtual stuff), and I don't know much about MIDI. I've installed fluidsynth, pmidi, pd, spiralmodular, jack, zynaddsubfx, timidity++, tapiir, snd, rosegarden, etc, etc, but I haven't used any of them yet, because I have nothing to create MIDI events/files ... which is what I want vkeybd for.
