Whenever I am in a paranoid mood I often say that the untold secret of
the auto industries preference of Hydrogen fuel cells over battery
electrics is simplicity. The EVs require very little maintainence, and
most can be done by any reasonably technical person.  Whereas the Fuel
cell will be more complex, and require special equipment
and training to maintain.
