Whenever I am in a paranoid mood I often say that the untold secret of the auto industries preference of Hydrogen fuel cells over battery electrics is simplicity. The EVs require very little maintainence, and most can be done by any reasonably technical person. Whereas the Fuel cell will be more complex, and require special equipment and training to maintain.
