This is definitely a problem specific to your particular system then,
because I achieved significantly higher regen currents during my test
drive of the CEV MightE truck with the Zapi 96V 500A SepEx drive... I
don't recall the exact values; I 'pegged' the 500A E-meter more than
once during the drive, but can't say with certainty now if any of those
events occured during regen... though there was that one instance when I
tried out flipping the direction selector to reverse while coasting
forward at a decent clip... ;^> (Randy had planted this idea in my head
before I headed out in the truck, but warned me to brace myself first).

Of course, I believe the Kostov SepEx motor has interpoles and/or
compensating windings, so it should be relatively happy with neutral
brush timing in either mode of operation.
