I want to thank the list members for all the various discussions. I bought a Leaf a couple years ago and having followed the list helped me get there.
Originally, I thought I would do a conversion but the cost of materials to build something with performance and range was prohibitive. Plus I don't really have time or space to do this (urban lot with a tiny sloping driveway). So, when the Leaf came out, it was good enough. I'd rather have something simpler that I could tinker with and adjust settings. I might still do that some day. Either way, I'm one of the people who probably doesn't fit the original spirit of the list but have benefited greatly from it. I totally agree with that. that being said, I still believe conversions are an alternative to buying a OEM, point being, you can convert anything, something old, new or in-between. you can pick & choose, you cant with an OEM, you get what they want you to have. I personally dont like any of the new cars being built with cookie cutter stamping machines , which every one looks like a potato, In fact the newest vehicle I own is an 83, S-10, it is all electric . Im in the conversion business because it pays the bills, and very well too . To me I could care less if gas hit 10$ a gal, just means more work for me. I could care lass about this so called global warming , the planet will take car of its self. I build conversions because, I have been doing this since 74, and the auto manufactures have just gotten involved with it, So Im ahead of them by 30 years . and was doing what they didnt want to do or couldnt.. I feel that a new car has so much garbage in it now, its not a car at all, just a rolling cell phone , that parks, steers, brakes it self, changes lanes,,and you can get on line and go to face book and say.."im stuck in traffic" ...WOW what a reason to buy a new car Yes the Tesla is a pretty decent looking car -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
