Ever use a laptop arranged so you could replace the CD-ROM drive with an extra battery? I'm dreaming, of course, but wouldn't it be great if your EV were like that? Lose the trunk (boot), or a passenger seat, or something, and you could gain some range. The main battery could be just enough for your daily use, with a little to spare. If you needed more range frequently, the spare battery might live in your garage. If you needed the range for a day or a week, you might pop into your local EV "filling station" and rent a supplemental battery to fit in that spare battery slot. If you were going to a trip, they might even have an ICE range extender that would fit in the same space. (Or - let's dream big - maybe even a fuel cell.) I know, pie in the sky. It probably won't happen in my lifetime, but maybe folks now in their 20s or 30s will see something like this.
