I don't use 1 pedal mode in my Ford Lightning, but from comments on that forum, 
the brake lights come on in moderate regen (either from 1 pedal or 2 pedal 
mode).

My 2017 Bolt does not operate the way you describe. Whenever deceleration is 
greater than normal engine braking in an older ICE vehicle the brake lights 
come on.
