Can't you just plug in the car, set to 80% (50% probably better), while gone
for a long time?

Seems like Tesla has a major design flaw if sitting for 6 weeks will trash
the expensive main HV battery.

Our Leaf 12V battery died after 4 weeks of sitting (from ghost loads) but at
least it wasn't the main HV battery.

Yes, if any string actually is 0.71v, it's toast.  Hard to believe though,
unless there was mechanical damage or moisture ingress.
