My observation is that the market for used and obscure parts is very different than in decades past. Whatever you want now has a bar code, a part number, and can be found on eBay or via Pick 'N Pull. Plus 3D printing of old parts is just about practical.
The question is if the Fisker went full John Deere : with digital rights management and unworkable digital tools. Because if it's just struts, wiper motors, and panels and mechanical parts, then that's just not going to be the barrier it was in years past. I hope that Frisker is (was) young enough to use mostly commodity parts, rather than, say, the Fiat 500 Specific Timing Belt Wrench, as an example.
