Maybe in countries that glamourise killing - that make the killer seem cool, the hitman a hero?

Or maybe countries with serial killings are more likely to think capital punishment is an appropriate punishment. Note that in the U.S. even states that do have capital punishment usually reserve it for more heinous crimes than simple murder, e.g. multiple murders, murder for hire, killing a police officer,...
