I've been fascinated by people with savant-like abilities, especially in the visual/spatial area (e.g. http://www.stephenwiltshire.co.uk/ ). I wonder if when human's evolved language or other abstract reasoning abilities, they might have lost what was formerly an innate ability in all people (and still present in many animals).
