True, but Netscape lets you configure this in Preferences. I don't know
about pine and mutt.

*some* users like to see it. While this is not the right place for
feature requests, and maybe this shouldn't be targeted to v1.0, the
ability to configure this parameter is by no means an unreasonable
request. I, personally, would like to see it in .gnome/evolution. I'm
personally just as sick of the dot-filename polution of my home
directory as I am of non-hidden filename homedir polution. :-) When the
manpower isn't so much of an issue, being able to answer "its
configurable" would allow you to squash a lot of user whining about
where things are kept.
