Hello Jim, I have looked at this problem a bit, and have arrived at a proposal for a GUI: http://primates.ximian.com/~anna/attribution_1.png . You may also download a glade file for this (helpful if you want to use the standard Evolution spacing, padding and mneuomics) from here: http://primates.ximian.com/~anna/attribution.glade .
The blue text I used in the design looks a bit crappy (and is a bit too small) because I gimp'ed it in there (glade being unable to add blue text to an entry.) At any rate, this screenshot should give you a sense of how I envision this working: the user can type in the entry, but must use the "Tokens" option menu to add a token, to ensure that proper syntax is used. My feeling is that this does not really need to be configurable by account-- I would instead place this option in the bottom portion of the "General" tab of the Composer Preferences page in the new configuration dialog. What do you think? Anna Il mar, 2002-05-28 alle 12:02, Jim Meyer ha scritto: Hello! So now that there's a way to store and retrieve a customized reply attribution there probably ought to be a way to change it from the UI. As it's a property of an account, somewhere in the Account Editor (Tools->Mail Settings->Account->Edit) would seem appropriate. I was originally thinking it'd be another line in the Identity tab, but Jeff Stedfast pointed out that entering "On or about %H:%M on %d %m %Y, %%s said:" wasn't likely to be regarded as a pleasing interface. He's absolutely right. So what should such an interface look like? A whole other tab? A popup dialog? Hmmmm? Thanks! --j, pondering puzzledly. p.s. many thanks to Jeff who provided guidance and a prod at the right moment to get me to finish this. -- Jim Meyer, Geek At Large [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ evolution-hackers maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers _______________________________________________ evolution-hackers maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers
