I am assuming they have an Exchange server, a fair assumption with this being an Exchange forum. There is a pickup directory for the SMTP virtual server, and for the Exchange 5.5 IMS.

This would require code changes on all the app servers and they would need to have a way to change who the email is sent to on the fly. Format an RFC 822 type message and drop it in the SMTP virtual server's Pickup directory. (You'll need proper permissions of course.) Doing this, you could literally write a DOS batch file that sends an e-mail without any sort of command-line client at all. We have an application that monitors servers and sends SNMP alerts that shoots an email to a mailbox that has outlook rules that forward the mail to an on-call admin that they change on a daily basis. The problem we have is that we do not allow forwarding to the internet in our new environment and the admins have [EMAIL PROTECTED] pagers. I need a solution that will forward to these mailboxes. I have thought of a few options but am looking for the easiest way for someone to go in and edit where the messages need to go without having to make a change on all the application servers.
