Change their display names to:

Jim Smith (Big Cheese)
Jimmy Smith (Peon) 

You're welcome to use other descriptions as best suits your particular
environment.  It won't completely solve the problem but will make their
identities a bit more obvious.

There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.  But
there are sometimes good mitigating measures.

 We have two users with similar names and one of these users is a new VIP
who is complaining they receive e-mails addressed to the other recipient
i.e. Jim Smith (Alias: Jim.Smith) is receiving e-mails from Jimmy Smith
(alias: Jsmith).

The new Jim.Smith has been with us for about 3 months and Jsmith has been
with us for 20 years.  I believe it is an issue of the auto complete in
Outlook, and I wondered how others of you handle this type of request?  FYI
I know how you would LIKE to handle this type of request.
