"some kind of documentation" is a vague statement. It could be taken to mean
many things, including all of those that you listed. "A link" which you
referred to in your later queries lamenting the unhelpfulness of the list is
a much less vague query.

You followed up the query you snipped below with the following, "I am trying
to find out what is logged at the different levels for all the categories."
"Try it and see" is an appropriate response to that statement.

In the last 12 months I've answered ~=3,000 Exchange related queries.[1] I
did read your post before answering, in fact I read both of them. I ignored
both of them as being vague and generally not worthy of my time. I only
joined in when you criticized the quality of the answer you received. And
then, only to point out the quality of the answer was directly proportional
to the quality of the question. You can continue to argue that your question
was a well thought out and a quality one if you like. Based on my experience
I don't find that to be true, but then it doesn't much matter to me since
for the most part I know enough of the answer to your question to get by on
a day to day basis (and develop applications which utilize the data).

I applaud your desire to know more about how Exchange works. It's always a
good thing to be curious. However, given the limited public documentation on
the subject, and the lack of a pressing "need to know" Ed's answer continues
to be the best one I can point you to.

If you think I'm sick in the head for imagining that you could want someone
to type it all up for you, you've obviously not seen some of the posts I
have. You've also not seen some of the work I (and others) have done to
answer queries way beyond what some would consider reasonable when not
getting paid for it.

[1] That's down 20% or more from the previous 3 years, but I've been a bit
busy.
