Well, it's certainly improved with every version of Outlook I've used.... I found it quite tolerable in Outlook 2000 and later using the methodology I described elsewhere in the thread. I also used to teach laptop users who to best use Outlook on the road, so I have rules, sync groups and filters set to minimize my synchronization times when I'm on the road.
