16TB for Exchange Enterprise???  Where did you hear this?  The DB size is unlimited though I would never want to be responsible for a 16TB DB on an Exchange server.  Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen...

16GB is the limit if youre running Standard Exchange.. If youre running Enterprise Edition, its 16TB

You need to take the store off-line and run the ESEUTIL on the database. This will compact the database. I ran this on my small 4 GB database and it was reduced 20%. You can run this from the mbdata folder (this will defrag and compact the db):

        ..\bin\eseutil /d priv.edb
Be prepared that this will create a new temp file up to the same size as you priv.edb file. Then when the defrag and compaction is done it will delete the original .edb file and rename the temp file to the deleted .edb file. This is process takes a long time.

I have built a 2nd Exchange server for my site as my primary server is running out of disk space. I have been moving mailboxes across to the new server as well as getting users to delete and archive as much as possible, however the size of my PRIV.edb file on primary server does not seem to be decreasing! It is approaching 16GB which I know is the limit of the private info store. What do I need to do to reclaim this disk space?

Many thanks
Doug
