When I said, depending on what they do and how much experience they have, I said some where between $60 and $90k to start.   This is where he blew my mind. He asked me and I quote "is that all?!?"   These kids come out of school thinking that the dot com boom is still alive and our expecting huge 6 figure salaries. After that I didn't have the heart to tell him, that the only way he was going to make that kind of money as an admin was to have 10-15 years of experience and be damn good at it.   Unfortunately they want the huge paychecks and are not interested in the job. Personally, I love what I do. I make enough money. More is always better, but the bottom line is I still love what I do.
