I ditto that. My sister lives in Conn. and takes the train down to NY
at least 3 - 4 times a week. Both my wife, brother and I really could
not stand the commute or the extremely high pace and relative lack of
consideration by people face to face when we went to visit.

I have 3 friends who live in Char, NC. And love it. The cost of housing
should be less than half of NY, better schools, taxes, etc.

As far as to your exact post..I would think that M.Smith may not more of
what that job would detail than any of else other than those who may
work directly for MS.

When do you have to let them know by? It may be hard to get a response
from him until the New Year if he went on vacation.

Not paying near 50% taxes and cost of living would likely be reason
enough
for me. As someone who doesn't care for NY to begin with my opinion is
slighted. Looking at a job (and housing) for about 280k in the Manhattan
area, I would actually be losing money compared to here in South Florida
by
the time I factored in taxes and cost of living. (Making less than half
that
same amount)

I thought about living in Jersey and making that 'drive' thru the tunnel
and
after doing it a couple of times I was like no thank you :)

I just got offered a position of support escalation engineer at msft
in charlotte, NC.

does anyone know what that job is like?

I live and work in New York so it would be a relo for me and my family.

I'm trying to get some additional insight into the position before i
take the plunge (as well as what its like to live in CLT).

Apologies for the OT.

thanks
