OK, that's a valid point. No mail system should be generating NDRs after
accepting a message.

1. Create contacts in Exchange that redirect to addresses in the subdomain
of the CRM server.
2. Your Exchange system can continue to reject messages outright for
"recipients that are not in the directory"
3. The outside world sees only one domain.
4. The CRM mail server can hopefully able to use a FROM address which
matches the Exchange system's contact address.

Well..yes, BUT ALL non-Exchange recipients will be delivered there and that
system becomes the one responsible for generating NDRs for unknown users -
seems excessive for a single address but might work - not all environments
are like ours.

Yes you can. Exchange can redirect mail to another mail server for any
addresses it can't resolve itself.

Ya, that's what I was afraid of, I was pretty sure that I can't route a
single address out.

(sigh) - well, unless you have an SMTP relay that can route to hosts based
on the mailhost attribute, it seems to require subdomain or host.domain.com.

The CRM system doesn't do POP, just listens for inbound SMTP connections.

I have a small challenge, we are implementing a new CRM system that accepts
and sends email. They would like to receive mail from external and internal
recipients to these addresses which belong in the same domain that Exchange
receives for, domain.com. I've done this in the past with Exchange and sub
domains; sub.domain.com and configured a SMTP connector to deliver to the
CRM mail system. However, in this case, the implementation team would
prefer to receive email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and have it delivered to the CRM
system. Anyone have any suggestions or could point my towards some
documentation this type of scenario?

Thanks!
