Service Pack 6 will be the next release for BES 4.1(HTML Email, yay).
Not sure there will be a BES 4.2 as RIM surveyed customers/admins and
the feedback was that they would rather see SP's rather than a major
release to get these new features, hence the SP's. I've been told that
we'll see SP6, and possibly SP7 for 4.1 before BES 5.0 is released late,
late, late this year or sometime next year.

No TSupport here.

Any idea when 4.2 (or whatever is next) will be out?

I don't want to pay $999 to go to 4.1 only to have 4.2 come out the next
day.

thx

I don't have a logon there, but I assume it's this:

The following registry modifications disable the sending of read
receipts:

1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry
Enterprise Server\Agents.
2. Right-click SuppressReadReceipts, and click Modify.
3. Perform one of the following actions:
- To prevent users from sending read receipt messages, type 2.
- To allow users to send read receipt messages, type 0.
4. Click OK.

I thought I recall this coming as a feature either in the release notes
of either SP5 or SP6 beta or the OS4.6 specs... unfortunately this
doesn't help you in your current situation.

Do you have TSupport? Have you tried calling them?

Apparently, this is a big PITA for many BB users... Looks like if you
have BES v4.1 sp4 you can try this:

Of course, I am on BES v4.0

I don't think I've ever seen a BB do this.

I have seen it return a delivery receipt when using BIS though.

Interesting - RIM says "The BlackBerry smartphone does not send a read
receipt when the BlackBerry smartphone user reads an email message.

This is by design; BlackBerry smartphones do not send read receipts.

(I had to spell READ R3AD because lyris rejected my original email)

Hi all,

Is there a way do disable by blackberry from sending read receipts when
I read a new email message?

In Outlook, I have read receipts disabled. And it works as expected if
I open a message in Outlook.

But if I read a message on my blackberry, and the sender requested a
read receipt, the sender will get one.

Thanks!
