BIS is Blackberry Internet Service. It will sync via your OWA portal. BES express is free so $$ shouldn't be an issue any more if that's what's stopping you from running a BES server.

Can a Blackberry device such as a BB Bold 9700 support push email without having a BES server, maybe using the BB equivilant of ActiveSync? We have a few a Windows/Symbian based devices that have push email to the phones. The Windows based ones use ActiveSync and SSL cert and the Symbian ones use Mail For Exchange and a SSL cert Thanks John ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
