The forest boundary exactly matches the Exchange organisational boundary. However you could certainly run both e-mail domain addresses within a single organisation and by using recipient policies ensure that each mailbox got an e-mail address in the correct e-mail domain. Any help appreciated keeping in mind MS doesn't recommend multiple sub domains.
