I'll join in the fray and agree that there are great apartment deals to be had out there. I'm near closing the deal on a two-room apartment about 5 minutes from the Kremilin by foot, with remont (but unfurnished) for $1500 per month. It seems unbelievable compared to what some of the agents will tell you.
There are a lot of people up there who want to rent out their flats for outrageous prices. But there are good deals to be had as well if you'll just spend the time looking.
