If he types the above exactly, it is highly unlikely anything will
happen except "bad command or filename". FDISK is usually in either
C:\DOS or C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND, not the root.

Simply FDISK /MBR will generally do the job, which is to fix a broken
master boot record by installing a brand new one. Unlike lilo -U, DOS
FDISK knows nothing about any previous MBR state.
