thanks again . Got kde 3 runnings but most things don't work of course.
on the point to update 2.1.1 ( not 2.2.1 as you mentioned ) I have never gotten kde to successfully udgrade to 2.2.anything. the current version is 2.1.1 not 2.2.1. everytime I have tried it shows a dep for a lib-file which I can't find anywhere . maybe I'll just wait till 8.2 comes out and reinstall. would like to stay up-to-date but stock 8.0 works sssooooo well! thanks again for trying to help me though.
