This is a classic, and predictable, problem with Linux closed source (where
you're only given binary files and can't compile from scratch).

The Gnu C(++) compiler and libraries has been upgraded to version 3.2 in
Mandrake 9.0. Unfortunately, a lot of commercial applications have been
compiled to expect gcc 2.9x so will fail with the default installation of
9.0.

The trick is to install 2.96 as well as 3.2 by doing, as root,

urpmi gcc2.96
urpmi gcc2.96-cpp
urpmi gcc2.96-colorgcc
urpmi gcc2.96-c++

Now, before you do that, can someone confirm having gcc 2.96 and gcc 3.2
installed at the same time won't cause problems?
