I try that..... I think is driver dependent  too....  (or may be my kernel doesn't 
support it)
Here is the output.....

The output in dmesg when detecting the card is:

No info about the speed.... 
In the switch indicates is running at 100Mb .
The running kernel is 2.4.18-6mdk  and mii-tool from package net-tools-1.59-1mdk
Or may be I missed an option running mii-tool .
