Thanks Greg for the info. I actually checked out my lilo.conf and it does reflect what you are mentioning in your answer. This part will be added to new knowledge.

You need to pass hdx=ide-scsi to your kernel at boot.  Different procedure for
LILO and Grub, but you should be able to figure it out by looking at either
/etc/lilo.conf and /boot/grub/menu.lst, depending on what your using.  BTW,
substitute the actual ide channel your burner is on for the x in my example
above.
