   I wonder if the new DRM module for MediaPlayer.  (The one that lets
M$ read your entire drive if they want.) has anything to do with the
"wait" state.  I wouldn't be suprised if M$ checks for it and then makes
you wait for a timeout in order to "force" users to get the patch. 
Since it can't find it on your box you get the wait state.  Purely
conjecture but the devil has been know to help users make the decision
they want them to make.
