Ok thank you for all the suggestions, they were more than I knew to try. I accidentally stumbled onto the solution.
I booted to a backup version of 9.1 I have on a little drive, loaded the raid drivers and tried to delete the file, still no progress. Over the past couple of days I've tried to run fsck but it always says its clean. Looked on the man page and there was my answer. fsck -f I got tons of really strange errors, after all was said and done, fsck somehow made the file dissappear. Jack
