system. The previous owner said they could never get it to meter
properly. If I knew what to replace I would do it.

I just checked my manual, and it looks as though the metering is done by the pump itself. The lines to the cylinder should flow 1.7 - 2.0 cc/min. @ 3000 RPM with pump lever wide open. The line to the crankcase should flow 3.4 - 4.0. The doodads at the end of the lines are just check valves with banjo fittings. If you don't get these numbers you need a new pump or continue on as you are.
