TM does not exist in a vacuum as much as folks would like to think of it that way, now you see (with all of MMY's add-ons) what the true intent was and is. Additionally, in order to teach TM as a secular science MMY had to extract two of Patanjali's limbs of yoga, namely Yama and Niyama. TM, as taught, is only 6/8th of a teaching (call it half a loaf) and hence it's effectiveness is somewhat compromised (unless you use your common sense and pick up the first two limbs on your own).
