I understand what folks are trying to saying about MSAE not being so bad and compared to many other schools, its probably not...but I don't think it negates her experience. We all know what the TMO can can do to your pysche...if we didn't we wouldn't be on this forum processing it all. I don't think just because MSAE is better than many highschools that it means she should just 'get over it' as it seemed implied by some of these responses.
Having said that, Diva, if it helps you process it all, it sounds like given your learning disability and anxiety, your school years might have been challenging anywhere. Most American schools follow a memory based system of learning which doesn't embrace different learning styles and lacks hands on application. It doesn't make it excusable that the principal ignored your LD...and what is ridiculous is that MSAE praises itself to be better than a public school and at least in this regard, its not maybe even worse because it probably doesnt' have qualified special ed teachers who can work with kids with special needs. When I visited, it appeared to me that MSAE had a mixture - some fabulous teachers who were like saints willing to do a great job and basically work for free, and some other inexperienced or unprofessional teachers who were the kind you'd expect to see for such a measly salary. I also agree that getting out of FF would be a very good thing for you. There is likely SOME good from going up in Fairfield but you aren't going to discover what that is unless you get away from there to gain some perspective.
