I agree, forms of meditation that work at transcending thought by their very nature bind one to thought. ----Honestly, I never understood the transcending thought thing. Since the beginning for me there has been consciousness, thought and mantra all at the same time. The mantra has never changed or gotten finer, the thoughts have never gotten more subtle, and the consciousness has never gotten different. But each thing has grown more aware in terms of itself.
