********** The light in enlightenment is unlimited consciousness, and it's available when the mind is sattvic (pure, transparent). Until the mind, the sixth sense, no longer blocks full consciousness, it's like the other senses which act as a filter of the environment in their respective domains. When somebody blows a dog whistle in the park, the sound waves fall on all human and dog ears, but only dogs hear the noise, because evolution has resulted in a sense of hearing that filters out high pitched sounds for humans and does not for predators who need to hear squeaky prey -- same sort of thing for all the senses. The mechanical technique of TM is good for anybody, regardless of their personal qualities or habits, who wants the mind to stop limiting in its domain, consciousness.
