Well, actually, a lot of people worked very hard to get a president and a Congress elected that would stop them from doing it. Worked very hard to do the same thing back in 1992, for that matter. Both times, the person we elected president promised to fight for health reform. The first one did what he promised, fought tooth and nail for reform, but couldn't get it passed despite his best efforts. This time around, the person we elected to fight for us didn't. He doesn't like to fight, it turns out. He thought he could do it without fighting. And when he found he couldn't, he ended up capitulating to the vested interests to get something he could pretend was a major achievement. <snip> > And you seem to feel that people in other countries, > people who *weren't* complacent, and who *didn't* > allow private interests to rob them of the right to > adequate health care, should feel sorry for you. > Sorry...we don't. Another of Barry's convenient hallucinations. Nobody has suggested other people in other countries should feel sorry for us. > We think that *any* bill that attempts to "reform" > health care in America will be a miracle, Even if it doesn't actually reform health care... that those > who pushed it through are miracle workers, Or who didn't do the necessary pushing to get real reform through but who will hang a "Miracle Worker" sign around their necks if *anything* passes. The insurance companies and other vested interests will be only too happy to applaud, Barry along with them. and those > of you who are doing nothing but bitching and whining > and blaming should be fuckin' grateful for that miracle > if it occurs. You certainly don't deserve it. Yeah, rather than sticking around to fight, we should all have skipped the country like Barry and gone to live in Europe, where we could have taken advantage of what the folks there fought for without having to do any fighting ourselves. And then sat back and mocked those who stayed to fight for not deserving what we were fighting for. Thank goodness somebody around here has such a clear vision of who deserves what.
