Actually you could extract MMY and TM completely from what he says and still have a strange and impressive tale. Plus which, of course, as wayback pointed out, it is indeed uncalled-for to claim that "no one much cares what a substitute teacher thinks about anything." Just as it would be uncalled-for to claim that no one much cares what a writer of software documentation thinks about anything. (In fact, given the choice between two people, one from each category, and not knowing anything about either individual, I'd go with hearing what the substitute teacher has to say. Somebody who spends his time interacting with children is almost certain to have more interesting things to tell us than someone who spends his time interacting with software.)
