Oh, okay. I guess that makes sense. I'm just saying that I am having a difficult time find much difference in the message of any of the Indian Gurus. The fact that your ex introduced you to Amma seems as good a reason as any. It was an old girl friend that got me into TM so many years ago.
But you are so into the "essential", and the "accidental", it seems to me that "essentially", they have the same message. So it is a matter of personality or circumstance that makes one become attached to one Guru or another. I know little about Amma's message as opposed to Ramana, but evidently you see significant differences which obviously make you react harshly to Ramana. Now, it just occurred to me that there are giant disagreements wrt advaita etc. So, I may be exposing myself as quite uneducated in this regard. Fortunately, I have my own experience to go on, which for the most part is uninfluenced by much formal dogma in this regard. Yes, I have the seven states tempate somewhere in the back of my mind, but it is not anything I really pay much attention to. Or I don't think I pay much attention to it. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Ravi Yogi <raviyogi@...> wrote: > > Steve, > > Yeah I guess it was existence's roulette that I end with up two Gurus who couldn't be so opposite in their personalities. Did you spin a wheel to select your Guru, or Gurus. I mean I get picking Osho. He fits, and his message follows a different track than most of the others. But let's take Ramana Maharishi, whom you disparaged a few days ago. Is his message any different than Amma's? For the sake of full discosure, I know little about either of them. Both both seem to be held in high regard by their followers. > > > > But it seems to me that in general, your M O is to look past any foibles and focus on the inner life of the Guru. So why would it bother you for example, to see an emaciated Ramana Maharishi as opposed to a rather plump Amma? It's that inner life you're after, right? Don't they both embody that? > > > > > > --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Ravi Yogi raviyogi@ wrote: > > > > > > You have lost my respect whynotnow7, how dare you insult my Guru - yep you are > > > rotting in hell for the rest of the eternity. > > > > > > She looks the like the most beautiful woman to me !!! > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > From: whynotnow7 whynotnow7@ > > > To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com > > > Sent: Fri, November 11, 2011 9:12:00 PM > > > Subject: [FairfieldLife] Re: Video of Amma with animals > > > > > > > > > Given her looks, it was the same stick - OK, I am going to hell. > > > > > > --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, "seventhray1" steve.sundur@ wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > > Just out of curiosity; did Amma ever proclaim to be a celibate ? > > > > > > > > > > I don't know, but there are stories of when her parents were trying to > > > > get > > > > > her married and she was chasing away suitors with sticks. > > > > > > > > > > > > Makes for good press doesn't it. > > > > > > > > > > > > > _ > > > > > > > >
