"respected lefty blogger".  Oxymoron? :)

The site had the look of something Ann Coulter would think was too
conservative, so I was a bit cautious. But you can't tell a book from
its cover. Actually the article I read was interesting, and it would
be quite eye-opening, if the figures are correct. I want to  "trust
but verify". Thus I was seeking for corraboration.
