Someone once said that every man has three lives, a public life, a private life, and a secret life. Well, these guys' secret life finally got to be not-so-secret. You never really know people, not even your best friends. I may be the only person in America who has a certain sympathy for the younger brother, his hideous actions notwithstanding. From what I read, it was the older brother who was the psychopath, and I wonder whether this was a case of psychological dependence on the part of the younger brother. He idolized his brother, his elder by seven years, and could not say no to anything his brother wanted him to do. Relationships can be like that sometimes. That's just a guess, of course. But 19 is so young, and his thought processes are likely not very mature. Now he has done something so monstrous his life might as well be over. It might have been better for him had he been killed in the shoot-out. Now, if he is not executed, he will be locked up in some supermax where he will slowly go insane as a result of being kept in solitary confinement. Of course, he did this thing and now will reap the consequences, but it is such a waste of a life, one that appeared to have a lot of promise.
