It seems quite obvious that there's a "worn" footpath through the entire work.....looks like the mid-line they used for getting their design oriented, and then they didn't need it for the pattern and only a few stalks bent askew here and there show their path. Between all the separate objects I think I see disturbed plants where a person would have walked between the areas.
