I think you misunderstood me. I sure as hell don't think the economy is humming
along just fine. I was saying that improving the economy isn't going to make
people feel safe without guns. I think there is an element  in society that is
always going to cause trouble, on a criminal level, and that element is getting
bigger and bolder. Disarming the general population will only embolden them
more. You know the old saying, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have
guns.

Well you must be living in the "good times" then.  But you probably have
neighbors who would disagree with your assessment and it has nothing to do with
entitlements.  You complain about foreigners coming in and they want to replace
people companies think that are too expensive with cheaper foreign workers.
They don't even give US workers a chance to negotiate.

You have to know something about economics to evaluate this properly and I
even read and listen to conservatives who know the economy is failing.  And
they are more in a panic about it than "pseudo liberals" (liberals in name
only) who believe the good times are here.  Ah!  You must be a closet liberal,
Mike!

Last week one of the local talk hosts had a local county assessor on who
declared the recession over so they would be taking off the adjustments made
over the last few years so people wouldn't lose their homes.  I don't know what
he was smoking but the recession is far from over and a bigger one on the
horizon.

I'm not so sure it's the economic disparity we see either. We had a great
depression in the thirties, far worse than anything we've ever had to live
through and didn't have a spiraling crime rate. I think the problem lies with
character issues. We, baby boomers and beyond, are spoiled generations that
have an entitlement personality. We are *owed* something we haven't deserved or
worked for because everybody else has *it* and I want mine *now* damn-it and if
you won't give it to me, I'll just take it!

FWIW, we have an SF Bay Area radio talk host who is a gun owner and a
liberal.  She stands by carrying a gun and how it may have saved her life once.
So she support the second amendment as do I though I don't own a gun but am
also very liberal.

There are some issue neither right nor left.  It just appears that some people
believe that banning guns is a solution but it isn't.  The problem is probably
the economy spiraling out of country and the economic disparity it creates.  It
is making many people on the planet crazy.  Solve that instead.

The story of my gun....                 Today   I swung my
front door wide open and placed my Remington .30-06
right in the doorway.  I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone
  and went about my business.
While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across
the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street and quite
a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun.  It was still sitting there,
right where I had left it.  It hadn't moved itself outside.  It certainly
hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented
  to do so.
In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself.  Well you can imagine my surprise,
with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are
and how they kill people.  Either the media is wrong or I have in my
possession, the laziest gun in the  world.
The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World.  But if you take
out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans, the
United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.  ALL 4
of these cities are controlled by Democrats.  It would be absurd to draw
any conclusions from this data - right?
Well, I'm off to check on my spoons.  I hear they're making people fat.
